LG Unveils Flagship 3D LW980T TVs

IFA, Berlin: LG has launched the latest additions to its Cinema 3D TV
range, in the form of the 47in and 55in LW980T passive 3D sets.

The ultra-thin (27.5mm if you’re wondering) TVs combine the
Smart TV platform and the Cinema 3D technology. They also features the new Nano
Full LED backlighting technology which promises “creates brighter, clearer and
smoother pictures.” The Nano Full Led tech also allows the bezel to be reduced
to a tiny 16.5mm.

The LW980T as you would expect is Full HD, with LG TruMotion
400Hz technology but also includes a built-in Freeview HD tuner and through the
SmartTV platform gives you access to apps from the likes of BBC iPlayer,
Facebook and YouTube. There’s also built-in Wi-Fi for easier connection to your
home wireless network.

There are two USB ports and four HDMI slots which should be enough for most people. The TV sets will be shipped with seven pairs of polarised 3D
glasses which will mean all your friends will be able to enjoy the 3D – and not
just you.

Passive 3D technology is certainly something we are in
favour of and LG’s latest offering looks good as well as delivering all the features
we would want from a high-end TV.

The LW980T TV sets will be available in mid-September with
the 47in model setting you back £1,799 while the 55in model will cost you
£2,499.
