LG SmartThinQ smart home hub with built-in speaker announced
LG has announced a new smart home hub which will be on show at next week’s CES show in Las Vegas.
The LG SmartThinQ hub, which features a built-in speaker unit and a 3.5-inch screen, can be used to monitor and control a host of smart appliances.
The likes of washing machines, refrigerators, ovens, air conditioners can be synced with the devices.
Conventional appliances are also compatible if they’re hooked up to SmartThinQ sensors via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
The speaker also comes in handy for streaming music from a smartphone, while reminders will also be played through the SmartThinQ device. Thousands of free stations are also available through iHeartRadio.

The idea is for the unit, which operates on the AllJoyn Alliance open source framework, to be the central hub of the emerging smart home.
