LG to Release A New High-End Quad-Core Smartphone?

LG is reportedly developing a new quad-core smartphone with a camera featuring more than 10 megapixels.

The company recently released its first quad-core phone, the Optimus 4X HD. This Android handset has an 8MP camera, as does the Samsung Galaxy S3, HTC One X and Apple iPhone 4S.

A 10MP step-up model could give LG a much-needed advantage in this fast moving sector where spec list features can have a big impact (although other factors can affect the actual picture quality).

According to Korean news website The Chosunilbo, the so-far-unnamed handset will use top-quality parts from various LG subsidiaries – LG Display, LG Chem and LG Innotek – as specified directly by the company’s chairman Koo Bon-moo.

The report claims that the LG boss thought the manufacturer didn’t make enough use of the parts available elsewhere in his company. Some of LG’s components are used by other tech firms such as Apple.

It’s said that the new high-end device will appear in September, though LG has not officially confirmed or denied anything about it yet.
