LG has refreshed its mid-range Q series of smartphones, introducing a trio of new devices: the LG Q7, LG Q7α and LG Q7 Plus.
There isn’t a noticeable difference between the LG Q7, LG Q7α and LG Q7 Plus from a cosmetic standpoint: all three are equipped with a near-identical design that’s somewhat reminiscent of the LG G7 ThinQ, a 5.5-inch near-edge-to-edge screen and a centre-mounted rear-facing fingerprint sensor – a first for the Q series.
The changes under the hood aren’t even that notable. The trio sport the same 64-bit Octa CPU, with the main differences being that the LG Q7 Plus is equipped with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, while the LG Q7 and LG Q7α come with 3GB and 32GB, respectively. All three ship running Android 8.0 Oreo.

It’s also worth mentioning that the LG Q7 and LG Q7α share the same 13MP rear-facing camera, whereas the LG Q7 Plus has a souped-up 16MP sensor. LG has armed the trio with some of the AI features that debuted on the LG V30S ThinQ, though, including QLens, its smart object-identification tool (think: Bixby Vision).
In addition, LG added that the LG Q7, LG Q7α and LG Q7 Plus all tout IP68 water- and dust-resistance and come with the firm’s Fast Charge tech, which is capable of charging the cell from 0% to 50% in a mere half an hour, putting it on par with Huawei’s Quick Charge, OnePlus’ Dash Charge and Samsung’s Adaptive Charge.
The LG Q7 and LG Q7 Plus will be available in Aurora Black, Lavender Violet and Moroccan Blue colour options. The LG Q7α will, however, launch in just one: Moroccan Blue. There’s no word on where all three handsets will hit the shelves, or how much they will cost, but LG wants you to know they’re on the way.
