LG Optimus 3D 2 Images Leaked

We’ve known  for some time that LG was planning a follow-up to its 3D handset, the Optimus 3D, and we’ve now been given a glimpse of what it will looks like.

With Mobile World Congress on the horizon, the reports emerging of new handsets are coming thick and fast with devices from both Sony and LG leaked in recent days. LG is set to launch another high-end device to join the X3, this time in the shape of the LG CX2 – or Optimus 3D 2.

The new phone will be a lot slimmer than the rather chunky original, with a sub 10mm profile promised. And the thickness of the device is not the only thing to get an update.

The new phone will be powered by an improved 1.2GHz processor from Texas Instruments and the 4.3in screen is said to be a NOVA display which promises an eye-searing 700 nits of brightness. However the resolution is just 800 x 480 pixels which won’t compare well with current high-end handsets.

The cameras on the rear are set to remain at 5 megapixels but one of the most interesting changes is the ability of the new phone to upscale 2D content into stereoscopic footage. Whether this will be of any benefit remains to be seen.

The internal storage is set at 8GB, plus you’ll get the usual accompaniment of Bluetooth 3.0, DLNA-capable Wi-Fi b/g/n, 21Mbps HSPA as well as NFC to use on all those touch-and-go payment points we see everyday.

We’ll be seeing the LG Optimus 3D 2 or LG CX2 (or whatever LG decides to call it) in Barcelona next month but for now let us know what you think of the new handset in the comments below.
