LG officially announces LG Optimus F5 and F7 ahead of MWC

LG has officially unveiled its new 4G LTE enabled LG Optimus F series, with the LG Optimus F7 and LG Optimus F5 announced as the first F-series handsets ahead of an MWC launch.

The LG Optimus F7 and LG Optimus F5 will be mid-range phones aiming to bring 4G LTE connectivity to the masses at a reasonable price.

Earlier this week, pictures of the two upcoming LG Optimus F Series handsets leaked online, but it seems that LG took this as its cue to officially release the specs lists for the LG Optimus F7 and LG Optimus F5.

“LG continues to lead the industry with 4G LTE innovation and the Optimus F series, a well-balanced and well-equipped 4G LTE smartphone for the mass market, embodies the best of our broad LTE patent portfolio and innovative UX features,” said Dr. Jong-seok Park, President and CEO of LG Mobile.

“With adoption of LTE expected to explode in 2013, we are sending a clear message to consumers with the Optimus F Series that LTE isn’t just for heavy content users and techies anymore. It’s for everyone.”

The LG Optimus F5 will begin a worldwide rollout in the second quarter of this year in Europe, followed shortly by the beefier LG Optimus F7. LG has yet to release any pricing details, but both handsets will officially launch at MWC this month.

Alongside the LG Optimus F Series, LG also announced the LG Optimus G Pro smartphone complete with 5.5-inch Full 1080p HD display and cutting edge Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 CPU processor.

LG Optimus F7 Features
The LG Optimus F7 is the more powerful of the two handsets, featuring a 1.5GHz dual-core processor with 2GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage space expandable via microSD card.

The 4.7-inch True HD IPS panel displays the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean OS modified with unique LG features, like the upgraded QSlide. QSlide allows LG users to use two apps at the same time even in full screen mode, changing the size, position and transparency of the QSlide apps according to their own preference.

LG Live Zooming is also included as standard in the LG Optimus F7, enabling users to zoom in on a particular aspect whilst watching a video.

An 8-megapixel camera is built into the rear of the LG Optimus F7, with a front facing camera offering 1.3-megapixels. The LG Optimus F7 is powered by a 2540mAh battery.

LG Optimus F5 Features
The lower spec LG Optimus F5 features a 1.2GHz dual-core processor with 1GB of RAM and the same 8GB of expandable internal storage as the LG Optimus F7.

Powered by a generous 2150mAh battery, the camera in the LG Optimus F5 drops to 5-megapixels in the rear but retains the 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera.

With a 4.3-inch display lacking the HD resolution of the LG Optimus F7, the LG Optimus F5 still packs the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean OS and the unique LG features including QSlide and Live Zooming.
