LG Nexus 5 and Huawei Nexus 6 specs tipped in new leak

Google is expected to launch two new Nexus phones this year, and anticipation for both is running high.

Good news, then: we’ve just had spec leaks for both handsets, and from a generally reputable source.

Prolific rumour-spinner @OnLeaks has posted information about both the LG Nexus 5 and the Huawei Nexus 6 to Twitter.

The LG Nexus 5 is tipped to ship with a metal chassis, possibly in an attempt to make the Nexus series smartphones feel more premium.

The handset looks set to be a little thicker at 9.8mm than svelte flagships such as the iPhone 6 and Galaxy S6, but it’s by no means huge.

A fingerprint scanner is also rumoured, which gels well with Google’s new focus on biometric security in the upcoming Android M operating system.

There’s also a mention of a USB-C port, which is a new USB standard that offers improved transfer speeds and a reversible insert, just like Apple’s Lightning cables.

The Huawei Nexus 6 is also tipped to feature a metal body, which is an increasingly popular material for smartphones as shown by the iPhone 6 Plus and the HTC One M9.

The screen is rumoured to be 5.7in in size, which is a little smaller than last year’s 5.96in Nexus 6.

Once again, the fingerprint sensor and USB-C port will be new additions to Google’s Nexus program.

Unfortunately, Google hasn’t confirmed any of these details, so we’ll have to take this entire leak with a pinch of salt.

However, we might not have long to wait, as the search giant usually unveils its yearly Nexus handset in autumn.
