LG MT93 Personal Smart TV announced

LG has announced the LG MT93 Personal Smart TV, a new 27-inch television aimed at “singles and students.”

For such people living in cramped rooms or small flats, the latest 50-inch monstrosity is a bit of a no-go. However, the options for a full smart TV experience in a more compact shell are severely limited.

That’s where the LG MT93 comes in. It’s a 27-inch TV with all the features you’d expect of a full-size living room set. As LG puts it, the MT93 has been “designed for individuals who desire a big viewing experience without the big footprint.”

This works out to a Full HD (1920 x 1080) IPS display with 3D capabilities. The LG MT93 has the same Smart Home interface and the same access to applications as larger LG TV sets. This gives you access to Facebook, Netflix, YouTube, and plenty more smart apps.

Thanks to WiDi and Miracast, it’s also easy to share and mirror your video content stored on your mobile device onto the LG MT93. You can also play games in this way.

The LG MT93 also ships with LG’s Magic Remote, which incorporates new input methods such as voice and gesture recognition to aid navigation. Despite its compact proportions, there’s even a picture-in-picture function so you can monitor two shows at the same time or check your Facebook account without interrupting a broadcast.

As the final clincher, the LG MT93 has been designed to double as a PC monitor, driving home its appeal to students. What’s more, with two HDMI ports, three USB ports and a built-in web browser, it’s a simple matter to plug a keyboard and mouse into the MT93 and surf the web directly.

Expect to see the LG MT93 launched in Europe later this month, with other regions set to follow. There’s no news on pricing as yet.
