LG Launches First 22in 10,000:1 Monitor In UK

Better than most TVs.

We were quite disappointed to learn back in March that LG wasn’t bringing its 10,000:1 22in W606 to the UK, instead passing us off with the squitty 19in L197WH, but no longer shall we be second class citizen my minions for we now have a 22in beasty headed for Blighty.

The ‘W2252TQ’ (not overly intuitive, but it has a certain rhythm) is what we Englanders are being blessed with and given it possesses the same dimensions and 10,000:1 contrast ratio of the W606 plus – in my opinion – a far more stylish curved bezel it looks like the small wait has been well worth it.

There are no shoddy specs behind the headlining contrast figures either with a lightening 2ms grey-to-grey response time, 1680 x 1050 native resolution, 300 nits brightness and wide 170 degree viewing angle. On top of this, the W2252TQ features LG’s F-Engine picture enhancing chipset which offers a range of customisable and preset configurations, including ‘Movie Mode’ which automatically cranks up the contrast to 10,000:1. After all, you wouldn’t want such a high figure when sitting in front of Word or Excel all day unless you’ve had a particularly bad falling out with your retinas…

LG hasn’t given away price or release info at this stage, but – as is typical for the company – I wouldn’t expected too much of a delay while pricing is likely to be in the £200 to £250 bracket.

”’Update:”’ It’s shipping now for just £189.99 RRP. Bargain!
