LG has added itself to the list of Android phone manufacturers who’ll deliver monthly security updates to smartphone and tablet owners.
Earlier this week, both Samsung and Google announced they’d be issuing the updates aimed at wiping out dangerous malware.
An LG spokesperson told Wired on Friday: “LG will be providing security updates on a monthly basis which carriers will then be able to make available to customers immediately.
“We believe these important steps will demonstrate to LG customers that security is our highest priority.”
The swift change in tack from arguably the three most important companies on the Android landscape comes after the discovery of the StageFright bug.

Since Google relies on individual manufacturers to push out software patches, we can expect more Android makers to be making similar announcements shortly.
Another complication are the networks, who also adjust Android to their own needs, needing to vet the changes too, plus all of the different versions of Android running on the various devices.
