LG G4c leaks as mid-range G4 spin-off

The LG G4 is still hot off the press as far as smartphones go, but a spin-off device may already be on its way.

A scaled down version of the smartphone called the ‘LG G4c’ has turned up on several German electronics retailers’ websites (via 0815).

Mini versions of flagship smartphones are fairly par for the course, and the LG G3 saw its own scaled down LG G3 S launch last year.

This appears to be the 2015 equivalent, and ships with respectable but assuredly mid-range specs.

For a start, the LG G4c will use a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 410 chip, which is down on the G4’s octa-core Snapdragon 808.

It will make use of a 5-inch IPS display with a 720 x 1280 pixel resolution – that works out at 294-pixels-per-inch.

There’ll also be 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage, and a 2,540mAh battery inside.

On the camera front, we’re looking at an 8-megapixel rear-facing sensor with 5-megapixels dedicated to selfie-shooting.

The LG G4c will run on Android 5.0 Lollipop, but will ship skinned with LG’s own UX 4.0.

All this will cost anywhere between 279 and 300 euros, which works out at £205 and £222 respectively.

It’s still not clear whether LG plans to launch the budget-friendly G4 spin-off in the UK, but we’ll keep you posted.
