LG G4 to grow as larger 5.6-inch screen is tipped

LG’s latest flagship phone looks set to push firmly into phablet territory, with the LG G4 tipped to feature a 5.6-inch display.

Although only a marginal size increase over the 5.5-inch LG G3, if accurate, this oversized G4 screen would see the Korean manufacturer’s latest Galaxy S6 challenger line up more than half an inch larger than some of its closest rivals.

While the Galaxy S6 features a 5.1-inch, QHD panel, the HTC One M9 hosts a 5-inch display and the iPhone 6 is even smaller with a 4.7-inch screen.

The plus-sized G4 claims have been made by Twitter-based tipster @OnLeaks who, taking to the social media site, stated: “Looks like the #LG G4 has a… 5.6” screen.”

Pressed on where the information had come from, the tipster suggested he couldn’t say but hinted that the phone could enter the realms of reality ‘soon’.

Given the less than official avenues from which this G4 news has surfaced, we must stress these reports should be taken with a pinch of salt for now.

LG managed to keep down the G3’s overall footprint while adding a 5.5-inch, QHD screen thanks to a near bezel-free design.

Although firmed-up details are still unclear, it is expected that the upcoming LG G4 will feature a similarly boarder bereft design.

Further LG G4 features tipped to make an appearance include Qualcomm’s latest 64-bit Snapdragon 810 processor, 3GB of RAM and an improved 16-megapixel camera.

The phone is expected to be unveiled around the middle part of the year.
