LG G4 next phone to get Android 6.0 Marshmallow

The LG G4 is is set to get an Android 6.0 Marshmallow-flavoured update as soon as next week.
LG G4 owners in Poland will be the first to receive the Marshmallow update beginning next week, with other markets in Europe, Asia and the Americas set to follow.
LG claims that this makes the G4 the first smartphone in the world to receive the latest version of Google’s Android OS. That’s not strictly true, of course, but the G4 will be the first non-Nexus device to do so.
Still, the company is rightly proud of being first of the rest. “By working closely with Google, LG has been able to bring Android 6.0 to the G4 ahead of any of our competitors,” said LG’s marketing communications head Chris Yie. “While speed alone isn’t an indicator of great service, it does go a long way toward giving consumers the confidence that LG is committed to its existing customers first.”

LG pulled off a similar trick with the LG G3 last year, bringing Android 5.0 Lollipop to Polish customers much earlier than its rivals.
Among the new Android 6.0 features that will be reaching LG G4 customers first, LG mentions simplified app permissions, an improved volume and silent function, and a Doze Mode that shuts down background processing to extend battery life.
