LG G4 IPS Quantum Display detailed

LG has released a new video running through some of the key improvements making their way into the LG G4’s QHD display.

When specifications of the LG G4 started leaking out, one particular component appeared to be unchanged. Its 5.5-inch QHD display looked to be identical to that of last year’s LG G3.

Earlier in the month, LG announced the LG G4’s display ahead of the device itself, and claimed that it would represent a “quantum jump” over last year’s model.

Now it’s released a glossy teaser video highlighting some of the tangible improvements to be found in the screen. It asks the question, “Do you think all QHD displays are the same?”

If you answered yes, then LG has news for you.

Apparently, the LG G4’s screen will be 25 percent brighter than the LG G3’s, as well as outputting a 20 percent wider colour range.

That “quantum” comment LG made at the launch of the LG G4’s screen wasn’t just creative use of the English language either – the new display is actually called an IPS Quantum Display.

With Samsung producing arguably the finest smartphone display around – a QHD Super Amoled, no less – for the Galaxy S6, it will be interesting to see how LG’s response stacks up when it’s unveiled on April 28.
