LG G4 camera lens twice the size of LG G3’s

The LG G4 will sport a vastly improved camera with an extremely impressive lens, according to reports from Korea.

A series of official reveals, leaks and rumours are rendering the LG G4 the worst kept secret in the smartphone industry. We already know that it will be clad in leather and sport a 5.5-inch QHD display.

Probably the most impressive component, though, is set to be the LG G4’s camera. We’ve already heard that it will be a 16-megapixel effort with a wide-open f/1.8 aperture.

Compared to last year’s LG G3 (which had a pretty decent camera), it will let in 80 percent more light.

A new snippet of information from Business Korea shows the LG G4’s camera to be even more impressive. Apparently, it will sport a six-layer lens set-up, and each of those lenses will be double the size of the LG G3’s.

The report calls LG Innotek’s effort “a high-precision, large-diameter module structure.”

It also gives the LG G4’s 8-megapixel front-facing camera a mention. Apparently, this selfie cam will have a 0.11mm ultra-thin glass blue filter that “ensures natural and accurate expression of color by keeping infrared rays from entering the camera lens and increasing the penetration of visible rays.”

With the Samsung Galaxy S6 recently taking Android smartphone cameras to new heights, LG had to do something special with the camera tech on this year’s flagship. All signs suggest that it has done just that.

The LG G4 will be officially unveiled at a special event on April 28.
