The LG G3 could be set for an update, with the LG G3 Prime tipped to hit European markets this September.
With the premium handset having already touched down in LG’s native Korea – under the moniker of the LG G3 Cat 6 – the smartphone spinoff could now be heading for a wider release, with IFA 2014 tipped to act as a launch platform.
Building on the already high-end credentials of the LG G3, the G3 Prime adds a speedier quad-core Snapdragon 805 processor – up on the G3’s 801 chipset – and jumps from 2GB to 3GB of RAM.
Further differences include the introduction of LTE-A CAT 6 support, although this will be restricted to network limitations.
Aside from these alterations, the G3 Prime is a familiar looking handset, boasting the same, stunning, 5.5-inch 2560 x 1440p QHD display as its sibling as well as a 13-megapixel rear-mounted camera, a 2.1-megapixel front-facing snapper and an 8.9mm thick body.
It has been suggested that the LG G3 Prime will be shown off to European markets during IFA 2014 this September, ahead of hitting retailers later in the year.
If accurate, such a launch would see the device share the IFA stage with the inbound Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and precede the upcoming arrival of the iPhone 6.
We have reached out to LG for comment on these latest G3 Prime claims, but the Korean manufacturer has declined the opportunity to comment.
