LG G2 features list to add rear mounted volume controls

LG has offered new insight into the LG G2’s features list, with rear mounted volume controls all but confirmed ahead of the phone’s official unveiling next month.

Having previously been hinted at by a number of LG G2 rumours and leaked pictures, an official LG teaser image has now added further backing to the belief the upcoming flagship phone will sport an easily accessible volume rocker in the centre of the handset’s rear panel.

A device tasked with reviving LG’s ailing footing in the smartphone sector, the LG G2 has already been confirmed as the name of the device set to be formally unveiled at a New York based press event on August 7. Despite having manufactured the hugely successful Google Nexus 4, LG’s own-branded smartphones have proved less successful in recent times.

Suggesting that it has listened to public demand with its upcoming handset, LG has accompanied the teasing image with further confirmation of the phone’s imminent arrival. The pre-announcement teaser reads: “Be among the first in the world to experience the all-new LG G2. Come see how we are learning from you.”

Rumours of a rear-mounted volume rocker first surfaced last month when a leaked promotional video for the upcoming phone showed off shots of the handset’s rear.

Earlier this year, LG executives let slip the G2’s upcoming arrival to TrustedReviews while discussing the company’s future smartphone plans out at their Korean headquarters. Having at the time pointed to a Q3 release, Won Kim, LG’s Head of Mobile Communication for Europe stated: “G2 is going to be something different, something unique and we have needed to be very creative.”

He added: We don’t want to hide everything but similarly we don’t want to promote everything about the G2 in advance.

“To some extent we have to tease the features and specifications through channels, it is somewhat premature for me to talk about the G2 in terms of specifications.”

TrustedReviews will be on the scene in New York on August 7 to bring you all the latest surrounding the LG G2 launch. Stay tuned for all the breaking news and hands-on action.
