LG G Stylo mid-range phablet with stylus announced

LG has announced a new mid-range large screen smartphone, the LG G Stylo, which is most notable for sporting a stylus.

The LG G Stylo, which will be exclusive to South Korea at first, will feature a 5.7-inch 720p display and a 64-bit Snapdragon 410 CPU.

This processor will be backed by 1.5GB of RAM, and there’ll be 8GB of internal storage (with microSD backup, naturally). Around back you’ll find an 8-megapixel camera, while selfie duties are taken up by a 5-megapixel front camera.

It’s a decidedly mid-range offering, then, but it still appears to be an improvement over last year’s disappointingly misleading LG G3 Stylus which, contrary to its name, was nowhere near as proficient as the current LG flagship.

Indeed, according to LG’s (translated) press blurb, the LG G Stylo is the natural successor to the LG G3 Stylus.

The key feature that both devices have in common is, of course, that stylus. The Stylo’s is tucked away neatly within the body of the phone when not in use.

LG also speaks about how it has used its In-Cell Touch screen technology in the new Stylo. This is a technology we’ll be seeing in the LG G4 when it’s announced on April 28, and it should boost the sensitivity of the Stylo’s display.

Whether this will have any positive repercussions for stylus usage, we’re not entirely sure at this point.

Expect the LG G Stylo to rock up in its native territory some time in May. There’s no news on a global release.
