LG Cloud TV service coming to UK next month

The LG Cloud service will be available to UK residents by the end of next month, having already launched in the US, South Korea and Russia last year.

Allowing users to stream content to LG Smart TVs, the LG Cloud also functions as a storage unit for all entertainment content, synchronising the media between connected devices like PCs, tablets and smartphones.

“LG Cloud eliminates the time-consuming process of having to download or manually transfer content between devices,” said Richard Choi, LG’s Senior Vice President of the Smart Business Centre. “Today’s consumers are no longer loyal to only one type of screen. They move seamless from TVs to PCs to smartphones and it’s up to us to help them get the content they want whenever and wherever they want it.”

“LG is one of very few companies that can offer integration across so many display products.”

LG Cloud Features

In the form of an app, LG Cloud allows users to access any media content uploaded to their account. Users can stream 5GB of content to their Smart TV from a PC or Android smartphone for free without having to download the files to a storage device.

LG Cloud allows users to save and stream multimedia directly from its storage service, saving space on smartphones and other devices. Uploading content sounds fairly simple too, accessible via the PC client, Android smartphone or LG Cloud website.

Capable of transcoding and streaming all kinds of multimedia to smart devices via N-Screen, LG Cloud offers seamless action across multiple platforms. Using a resume play function, users can change their chosen viewing platform mid-TV series, movie or song.

The LG Cloud app will be available to download from the Google Play store or LG Smart World store by the end of May, and is compatible with LG CINEMA 3D Smart TVs, PCs and any Android smartphone, including the LG manufactured Google Nexus 4 or LG Optimus G Pro.
