LG brands flexible TVs ‘the ultimate solution’
Following the recent rise of curved TVs, LG is moving into the flexible TV space, an area the company has branded ‘the ultimate solution’.
With the Korean manufacturer having told TrustedReviews it will release its first flexible TV next year, the company has now sung the praises of the fledgling technology.
As well as bringing daily choice to consumers, as opposed to the single, decade-defining choice at the point of purchase, LG has claimed flexible TVs will help settle the debate of the worth of curved panels.
“
“Some say that it is just a gimmick and some say that it depends on the content. Other say it can give a more immersive effect, especially with a film or some sport content.”
He added: “We are still having a big discussion inside the company as to what our ultimate solution is. I believe that it is flexible, bendable OLED TVs so consumers can decide whether they wanted curved or flat.”
Looking to build on this ‘ultimate solution’, LG will launch a flexible TV next year.
“That product will be available next year, a flexible one,” Shin said, adding: “It will be expensive, yes.”
Although LG has failed to narrow down the release of its first flexible TV beyond 2015, the company suggested January’s CES convention in Las Vegas could act as a suitable launch platform.
