LG and Sky team up for free Sky Q offer

Sky recently slashed prices on its Sky Q bundles, making the latest, and most expensive, offering from the company slightly more affordable.

But if that wasn’t enough to convince you to sign up, LG has now teamed up the company to offer a very tempting bundle package with some of its TVs.

From now, anyone who buys select LG OLED 4K TVs or Super UHD TVs will get Sky Q included for either 12 or six months when joining with the Original Bundle.

Here’s how the deal breaks down, based on which TV you buy:

All 2016 OLED models (SIGNATURE OLED, E6, C6 and B6): If you’re a new Sky customer you get the Sky Q Multiscreen subscription and Original Bundle included for 12 months. If you’re an existing Sky customer you get the Sky Q Multiscreen subscription included for 12 months.

Super UHD UH950V, Super UHD UH850V, Super UHD UH770: New Sky customers get the Sky Q Multiscreen subscription and Original Bundle for 6 months, while existing customers get the Sky Q Multiscreen subscription included for 6 months.

We had a chance to test out the LG G6 Signature OLED, and found that “rich reds, greens and even blues, which are traditionally an OLED weakness, look sensationally rich and dynamic,” concluding “the 65G6’s amazing design and mostly equally amazing pictures are clearly the Signature’s stand-out features.”

So, what about that all-important Ultra HD content? Well, LG says it will provide the requisite Sky Q 2TB box, which, along with the Multiscreen subscription, means you’ll have access to 4K shows.

However, the company says you’ll “get a taster of Ultra HD entertainment with shows such as The Young Pope available to watch,” and that if you “decide to upgrade” you’ll be able to watch sports and movies in 4K.

As the Original Bundle doesn’t include movies or sports, you’ll be able to try out 4K with a handful of TV shows with this deal, then, but access to the full array of 4K content will require an upgrade to the movies or sports packages.

The Sky Q 2TB box also lets you record four shows while watching a fifth and record more than 1,000 hours of TV. Plus, you’ll be able to use the Sky Q app to download recordings to your tablet or smartphone to watch offline.

The offer runs until March 31, 2017 – unless you plan on going for the UH770 which will mean the offer expires on December 28 – so you’ve got time to save up for the TV itself, or put it on the Christmas list.
