Lexmark’s Four Card Trick

Two all-rounders and two photo printers with copy and scanning capabilities that the company promises will break new price points.

Need an affordable, easy to use new printer? Lexmark says you have four new options.

Released today are the X735 (above), X2350 (below), P4350 and P6350. The X735 and X2350 are grouped together as all-rounders and both offer impressive maximum resolutions of 4800 x 1200 dpi on photo paper, with up to 1200 x 1200 dpi on all other paper types. Lexmark claims you’ll get up to 15ppm and 6 x 4in borderless photos in 38 seconds (when using QuickPrint mode and excluding PC processing time).

Perhaps most interestingly, both printers also use the company’s “#1 Print Cartridge”, an all-in-one three colour (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow) solution that mixes its own blacks to save on consumer costs. What separates the X735 from the X2350 is that the latter also has a built in 600 x 1200 dpi one touch scanner and copier.

Moving onto the P4350 (above) and P6350 (below), we have two 4800 x 1200 dpi photo printers with 1.7in colour LCD screens for print previewing and editing. Each is PictBridge compatible for direct output from a digital camera and has a front mounted memory card reader. Like the Z735 and X2350, the “P’s” boast they can churn out 6 x 4in borderless photos in 38 seconds (under the same conditions), while they claim to produce 24 and 15 colour pages per minute respectively. Print durability should be good too, with Lexmark proclaiming a life cycle of more than 200 years in a photo album (more than enough time to outlast you and me, unless bioengineering has its way!).

As with the X2350, you can copy and scan with the P4350 and P6350, while the P6350 adds automatic image correction, colour enhancement and red eye removal directly from the printer. The differences between the two are that the P4350 has a 1.7in screen, while the P6350 which has a 2.4in screen and can also reads directly from a USB key.

Prices, as you would expect from Lexmark, are reasonable with the X735 and X2350 costing £49 and £59 respectively and you can grab them now.

Got the UK pricing for the P4350 and P6350, they’re £99 and £149.99 respectively. Not super cheap, but still highly competitive.
