Lenovo has introduced two new tablets, with 8-inch and 10.1-inch iterations of the Android powered Lenovo Yoga Tablet officially unveiled.
Bringing the fight to the current big players on the tablet scene, the two Lenovo Yoga Tablet iterations will go head-to-head with both the new iPad mini 2 and iPad Air, hitting the two screen-size touch points currently dominating the consumer tablet market.
With both the 8-inch and 10.1-inch options built around the same design principles, the Lenovo Yoga Tablet has been bestowed with a single bulbous edge, with the wedge-like design giving the tablet an ergonomic handgrip that hides an integrated stand. This design allows the tablet to be used in three distinct ways, with a ‘Hold Mode’, ‘Tilt Mode’ and ‘Stand Mode’ all being touted by the manufacturer.
Lenovo Yoga Tablet Features
More than just a multipurpose design, the Lenovo Yoga Tablet features list is an impressive offering its own right. Both the 8-inch and 10.1-inch tablets run identical specs, apart from their differing screen and battery sizes. Each tablet runs Google’s Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS.
Not lacking on power, the Lenovo Yoga Tablet sports a 1.2GHz quad-core processor alongside 1GB of RAM and the option of 16GB or 32GB of internal storage. For those after more comprehensive storage options, the Yoga Tablet supports microSD card expansion up to 64GB.
With all versions of the tablet hosting screens with a 178-degree viewing angle and 10 point multitouch functionality, both the 8-inch and 10.1-inch panels feature the same 1280 x 800 pixel HD resolution, meaning the smaller option has a better image density.
On a camera front, the Lenovo Yoga Tablet runs a 5-megapixel rear-mounted snapper alongside a secondary 1.6-megapixel camera up front. Keeping things pretty basic, the primary camera is without a flash, meaning indoor shots are out of the question.
The 8-inch and 10-inch models weigh in at 401g and 605g respectively, with both models set to also be made available with 3G connectivity options.
Lenovo Yoga Tablet Release Date and Price
Not wanting to keep consumers waiting, the Chinese manufacturer has confirmed that the Lenovo Yoga Tablet release date will be held today, October 30.
With the tablet heading straight to retailers, the Lenovo Yoga Tablet price has been confirmed with the 16GB Wi-Fi editions of both the 8-inch and 10-inch models costing a Google Nexus 7 2 rivalling £199 and £249 respectively.
