Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro announced with metal design and QHD display

Lenovo has unveiled a new flagship smartphone, the Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro, with a premium metal construction and a super-sharp QHD display.

While the Chinese manufacturer is better known for its laptops here in the west, Lenovo has been churning out smartphones in its home country and surrounding territory for some time.

Now, with the Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro, we have a whole new reason to cast our eyes enviously to the east.

The Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro looks to be a serious piece of kit. It comes with a huge 6-inch QHD display, which means it runs at a resolution of 2,560 x 1,440.

That’s backed by a 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 CPU and 3GB of RAM. If all of these components so far sound a little power-hungry, never fear – the Vibe Z2 Pro will come with a whopping 4,000mAh battery. That’s slightly bigger than the battery found in the Google Nexus 7, which of course is a tablet.

But perhaps the most striking feature of the Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro is its construction, with a unique metallic brushed-weave unibody design. This allows the phone to be just 7.7mm thick, though it also weighs in at a fairly hefty 179g.

In addition, you get a 16-megapixel camera with dual LED flash and optical image stabilisation, as well as 32GB of internal storage. There’s no microSD slot, for some reason.

Meanwhile, the Vibe Z2 Pro It runs on Android 4.4 KitKat and the company’s custom Vibe UI (version 2.0).

The Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro will arrive in September in a choice of three colours – gold, titanium, and black – but there’s no news on pricing or availability as yet.
