Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet 2 with Windows 8 has Pro Users in its Sights

Details of Lenovo’s next tablet have leaked out. The logically named ThinkPad Tablet 2 will run Windows 8 using an Intel dual-core CloverTrail processor chip.

Aimed at business users and also set to compete with Microsoft’s own upcoming Surface, the tablet has a 10.1-inch WXGA (1366×768) screen with 10-finger multitouch support.

According to the leaked spec sheets, there’s 2GB of RAM and 64GB of storage memory.  Sockets include Mini HDMI, a 3.5mm headphone jack, microSD and USB 2.0, plus its docking connector.

The tablet measures 262.6 x 164 x 9.8 mm and weighs 650g. There are two built-in 1W speakers, a dual microphone array with noise reduction and cancellation, GPS, digital compass, ambient light sensor, a 2-megapixel front-facing camera and 8-megapixel rear camera. Both cameras have an LED flash.

Optional accessories include a pen stylus and keyboard dock with trackpoint navigation. The stylus uses an active digitising system (as found in other Lenovo hardware) as it allows for a more precise input with drawing or handwriting.

There is no word on pricing or a street date but The Verge predicts it will debut around the time of the Windows 8 launch towards the end of October.
