Lenovo has unveiled a trio of new tablets at this year’s Mobile World Congress 2015 in Barcelona.
There are two Android slates, the Tab 2 A10-70 and the Tab 2 A8, as well as a third Windows unit titled the ideapad Miix 300.
Lenovo Tab 2 A10-70
The Tab 2 A10-70, cumbersome monikers aside, is a 10.1-inch tablet running a full HD display.
More important, however, is that it carries Dolby Atmos, marking it according to Lenovo as the world’s first 10-inch Android tab to make use of the surround sound tech.
John Couling, senior VP at Dolby Labs, said: “The best entertainment experiences put you in the heart of the action, and that’s what Dolby Atmos is designed for.”
“The combination of Dolby Atmos sound and the superior digital performance of the Tab 2 are a winning combination, and we are excited to collaborate with Lenovo to provide an outstanding experience that deepens consumer engagement with entertainment on the go.”
The tablet runs off Android 4.4, and is powered by a MediaTek quad-core processor. It’s also got dual-band Wi-Fi support, and an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera to boot.
It’s 8.9mm thin, weighs 509 grams, and comes in two hues – pearl white or midnight blue. Retail pricing is set at £179.99.

Lenovo Tab 2 A8
Next up is the Tab 2 A8, which is Lenovo’s second Android offering. It’s a HD (probably 720p) tablet, excitingly running the new Android 5.0 Lollipop.
It also carries a quad-core 64-bit MediaTek processor, a 5-megapixel camera and, once again, Dolby Atmos surround sound. Wi-Fi, dual SIM, and LTE support all included.
Lenovo hasn’t outed how much built-in storage the unit will boast, but it says a microSD card can boost capacity up to 32GB.
There’s four colour options this time around, namely pearl white, ebony, midnight blue, or neon pink. Pricing? £129.99 for the Wi-Fi version, £179.99 for LTE.
Jeff Meredith, VP of tablets at Lenovo, said: “Our new tablets prove the affordability and innovation can be synonymous.”
“In particular, bringing LTE speed and Dolby Atmos cinema sound is expected in premium devices, but we have challenged the norm and delivered these consumer-desired features to our entry A Series in order to elevate the mobile connected experience.”

Lenovo ideapad MIIX 300
Finally, there’s the ideapad MIIX 300, Lenovo’s effort to please the ever-resilient Windows crowd.
It’s an 8-inch slate that runs off a Windows OS, and lands with one years subscription of Microsoft Office. “The ideapad MII 300 proves productivity can come in any size,” so Lenovo says.
The tablet uses an IPS WUXGA display, with an Intel Atom processor doing the real work inside.
The MIIX 300 touts up to 64GB of build-in eMMC storage, with a microSD slot on hand for bonus memory.
The device uses dual cameras, offers Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support, and has a ‘long battery life’.
Lenovo’s Window-bearing fare is available from July for £149.99, in a spiffing platinum silver finish.
