Latest OnePlus 3 and 3T update will delight selfie fans

The 2016 OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T smartphones have received a small but significant update, which improves the front-facing camera and fixes an issue with WhatsApp.
The Oxygen OS 5.0.4 update is rolling out today and promises to improve the image quality for the front-facing camera. It also fixes a manual ISO setting issue for third-party camera apps.
Elsewhere, there’s a fix for an issue that caused the WhatsApp messaging app to crash, while there’s an additional camera fix for zoom-in issues within Snapchat.
Naturally, it has the latest Android security patch from Google, crushing some operating system bugs and vulnerabilities. OnePlus says the over-the-air update will have a staggered launch starting today and arriving on more devices in the next few days.

The announcement comes hot on the heels of an update for the OnePlus 3/3T and OnePlus 5/5T series phones that brings some of the popular video editing features found on the OnePlus 6.
As we reported earlier this week, the release introduces the option to trim clips, add background music and apply filters. There’s also the option to alter slow-motion video, letting users slice the total duration to as little as two seconds.
Here’s the official changelog:
- Added video editing feature to trim videos, add background music and apply filters
- Added slow motion video editing feature
- Bug fixes and experience improvements
OnePlus recently committed to two years of Android software updates and three years of security updates for its phones, matching Google’s Pixel policy. That means the OnePlus 3T should probably get the Android P update when it rolls out later this summer
The company writes: “As per the maintenance schedule, there will be 2 years of regular software updates from the release date of the phone (release dates of T variants would be considered), including new features, Android versions, Android security patches and bug fixes and an additional year of Android security patch updates every 2 months.”
