The Last Jedi comes to Star Wars Battlefront 2 in new update

The latest update for Star Wars Battlefront 2 introduces new campaign and multiplayer content based on the upcoming film.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi is set to release in cinemas on December 15, and thus Electronic Arts and DICE have wasted no time crossing it over with their blockbuster shooter.
The highlight of this content update is a new chapter in the single-player solo campaign, the events of which will tie into the upcoming film. Be wary if you want to go in absolutely blind, though.

On the multiplayer side of things you’ve got new heroes in the form of Finn and Captain Phasma alongside Crait and D’Qar as a duo of new maps.
All of this content will be available for free in Star Wars Battlefront 2’s latest patch, although you may need to unlock heroes using in-game credits.
A number of minor and significant balance changes have also been made to the game’s multiplayer, the bulk of which you can find in the official patch notes.

Games Editor Brett Phipps came away from Star Wars Battlefront 2 with mixed feelings. His 6/10 review praised the excellent solo campaign yet took major concern with the multiplayer metagame.
‘Star Wars Battlefront 2 is a great game spoiled by a terrible business model. DICE and EA are going to be under a huge amount of pressure not just to tweak, but completely overhaul the metagame or face an even bigger fan backlash than they have already.’
Time will tell how Electronic Arts plan to tweak Star Wars Battlefront 2 going forward. At the time of writing, microtransactions are still not available to purchase in-game.
