LaCie Unveils 24in Dual HDMI Professional LCD

With a 1920 x 1200 native resolution as well, it looks like designers get all the fun...

One for the aficionados.

LaCie has announced the ‘324’, a 24in LCD with 1920 x 1200 native resolution and dual HDMI ports targeting creative professionals.

Designed to make graphic artists dribble into their doodles, the 324 is equipped with an S-PVA panel which has a wide 92 per cent NTSC gamut and embeds a 10bit gamma correction mechanism designed to minimize banding and smoothly render colour gradients. A super fast 6ms response time and heightened 400cd/m2 brightness are also notable crowd pleasers though the 1,000:1 contrast ratio is more run of the mill.

With the aforementioned dual HDMI ports (both with HDCP), one DVI and trusty VGAer onboard, the 324 is also a flexible heavyweight, while a three port USB 2.0 hub is integrated into the base along with a touch sensitive control panel and a speaker / headphone jack.

“The LaCie 324’s feature set broadly addresses the needs of creative pros dealing both with fixed-images, as in graphic design, photography and publishing as well as with motion pictures, as in post-production and game development”, said Daniel Mayer, LaCie’s Color Business Unit Manager.

The 324 is available on its own or in a bundle with ‘LaCie blue eye pro’, the company’s single-click hardware calibration software. Blue eye pro also offers a set of tools for manual fine-tuning of the white point, test and report to verify profile accuracy and profile switching without the need to recalibrate. The bundle also includes ‘easyHood’, a one-piece monitor hood with anti-reflective black velvet lining intended to reduce glare in brightly lit environments.

The LaCie 324 will be available from the end of January and carries an unsurprisingly premium $1050 (£525) price tag for the standalone LCD. For pricing on Blue eye pro bundle has yet to be announced.

Yep, it’s big and it’s rather clever – so if you play a mean game of Pictionary you know what to do…
