Finding a favourite movie online just got easier for Brits

Ever wanted to watch a movie or TV show, but with no idea of where to get your hands on it?

A new app has launched in the UK that aims to solve exactly that problem, and it’s called JustWatch.

It’s basically a huge database that keeps track of all the major video-streaming services – Netflix, Amazon Prime Instant Video, BBC iPlayer, Now TV, and more.

You simply enter into the built-in search engine the title of the content you want to watch, and it will return all the places it’s available.

JustWatch will also reveal prices for renting and buying the title, and the app lets you search for the title in either standard or high definition.

Easy access to pricing

You can drill down further with filters to search via genre and the year in which the content was released.

What’s more, you can also filter by various streaming services, so you can choose to search only on platforms to which you have access.

A price-drop feature lets you keep a tab on sales of any content you might be interested in. And it displays both old and new price, as well as the percentage discount, so you can see just how much cash you’re saving.

The app doesn’t play video natively – except for trailers – so clicking on anything you purchase or choose to access will redirect you to the relevant third-party service.

JustWatch first launched in the US back in February, and expanded to Germany, Brazil, Australia and New Zealand shortly thereafter.

Here’s the full list of content services that JustWatch caters for in the UK: Netflix, Amazon Prime Instant Video, BBC iPlayer, Now TV, ITV Player, iTunes, the Amazon store, Google Play store, blinkbox, wuaki.tv, PlayStation, Xbox, Chili cinema and Mubi.

The JustWatch mobile app is now available as a free download for both iOS and Android, and is also available as a web app.
