Just Cause 3 devs giving away an island, but there’s a catch

Square Enix and Avalanche Studios have announced a contest to promote Just Cause 3, and the grand prize is your very own island.

Just Cause 3 is shaping up to be a wild, explosive adventure, so the minds behind it are thinking big when it comes to promoting the upcoming game.

To be in with a chance of winning your own very own island, you will have to be ranked at the very top of the Chaos Points leaderboard a full 90 days after the launch of Just Cause 3.

Chaos Points are acquired by destroying anything and everything in Just Cause 3, the more creative your destruction is, the better.

The grand prize is either your very own $50,000 island, or a cash prize equivalent to the cost of the island, if that doesn’t quite take your fancy.

A location for the island hasn’t been determined by Square Enix, and winners may have to swim there if they aren’t equipped with a boat of some sort.

“Location of Island to be determined by Sponsor,” said Square Enix. “All taxes and fees associated with purchasing and obtaining of Island (including but not limited to attorney’s fees, escrow, and closing costs) are the responsibility of the Winner.”

“Sponsor does not guarantee the Island to be inhabitable, developed or reachable by any means other than a boat.”

So, Square Enix is essentially telling us that it may be giving away a spider-infested rock, or the island from Lost.

Square Enix has also noted that the grand prize is subject to change if necessary.

“Sponsor reserves the right to change and/or substitute any components of the grand prize at any time, in its sole discretion”

To participate in the contest, you will have to pick up the day one edition of Just Cause 3, register an account on the Square Enix website, and link it to a console account of your choice.

More specific details can be found on the official website.

Just Cause 3 launches on December 1 for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
