Jony Ive: iPhone 6 and Apple Watch ‘best work yet’

Apple’s chief designer Jony Ive has said that he considers the new iPhone 6 models and Apple Watch his team’s ‘best work yet’.

Ive made the comments in an interview with the ABC network in the United States. He was speaking alongside Apple CEO Tim Cook, with the men talking up the company’s new product line.

Ive claimed that the Apple Watch was available in ‘millions and millions’ of variations, thanks to the various size options, straps and watch faces.

“The way we treated this from a design point of view wasn’t that you had hardware and then software. Our experience as customers, as users, is that their one in the same. So we designed the user interface, gave people multiple choices, for example in terms of just watch faces.”

The British designer said that the Apple Watch would be ‘desirable and personal’ for users when they got the chance to buy one early next year. That could be seen as a swipe at some of the less than perfect experiences served up by some Android Wear watches.

The Apple Watch will start at $349 (£215) in the U.S. UK pricing is yet to be confirmed and a specific launch date hasn’t been announced. The device promises to let you access a wealth of apps on your wrist and needs an iPhone to function.
