Jawbone UP24 fitness band launched in the UK

The Jawbone UP24 has been launched in the UK, the latest fitness tracker compatible with Android and iOS devices.

Available now, the Jawbone UP24 comes in three sizes (small, medium and large) and is offered in two colours, Onyx and Persimmon.

It retails for £125 from the Jawbone website directly, or from retailers including Apple, Amazon and John Lewis and the UP app is available to download now from the App Store and Google Play.

“The UP community has already logged more than 500 billion steps and 50 million nights of sleep. It’s an astounding amount of data,” said Travis Bogard, VP of Product Management and Strategy at Jawbone. “While data is good, understanding is better. UP24 is the first lifestyle tracker to help people make real sense of their data, understand their patterns over time and make smarter choices. UP pushes timely information to you to help turn your intentions into action.”

The Jawbone UP24 connects to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and iOS devices via Bluetooth, unlike the original Jawbone UP that needed to be physically plugged into the heaphone jack of your smartphone or tablet to sync.

Battery life is claimed to be around a week and the Jawbone UP24 lets your track your step activity as well as your sleep.

In line with other fitness trackers like the Nike Fuelband SE or Fitbit Flex, the UP24 offers goals to keep you motivated and sets a daily goal based on your unique activity patterns via the “Today I Will” feature.

A variety of information can be logged on the app, including your water and food intake, which will help the Jawbone software learn your patterns and recommend changes to make to your daily movements.

The Jawbone UP24 also provides your with gentle nudge notifications throughout the day, quietly pulsing on your wrist to remind you to stay active or reminding you at a time and place you set all based on user inputted data.
