Ixus Range Upgraded Again

Tasty trio added, did you really expect anything less?

Despite my droolings over many slimline digital cameras last year I somehow still own the same five year old Canon Digital Ixus. Suddenly I feel temptation rising again…

Three new Canon Ixus models will be hitting the shops soon, the 60, 65 and 800IS. The show stopper is the 800IS (above) with its six megapixel rating, 4x optical zoom and 2.5in LCD. An image stabiliser has finally added to the range (other companies have been doing this for months and you’ll get 16 different shooting modes for your £399.99 when it launches in April.

Sitting prettily behind it are the Ixus 65 and 60, both are also six megapixelers with 3x optical zooms, though the former features a 3in screen compared to the latter’s 2.5 inches. VGA 30fps videos are the order of the day along with widescreen recording and zippy DIGIC II processors.

Neither get the image stabiliser of the 800IS but the usual style and panache that accompanies the Ixus range is beautifully preserved here and you’ll be able to pick the 60 up in March and the 65 in April for £299 and £349 respectively.
