Most tracking devices connect to your phone over Bluetooth, which gives them a rather limited range. iTraq uses cellular tech to talk to phone masts, making it trackable wherever it has mobile reception.

It’s the same size as a credit card, and as thick as five together. This means you can put it in your child’s pocket, hook it to something using the hole in the top corner or stick it to a flat surface using the adhesive strip.
Using the app, you can give each iTraq a name and different alarm ringtone. Each will have a map showing its previous locations complete with timestamps. You can check how much life each has left, and change how frequently it reports its location.
You can add limitless numbers of iTraqs through the app. It’s compatible with iOS, Android and Windows Phone handsets.

It also has Guard mode. This sends you an alert when the iTraq goes outside a preset perimeter.
It looks like a great device, with plenty of advantages over what’s currently available. It’s sailed past its funding goal of $35,000 and will ship in August. It costs $49 (£32), or a pack of three will set you back $129 (£84) plus $25 (£16) international shipping.
