Sorry, folks – it looks like we’re not getting the Nokia N1 tablet in the UK after all.
This news follows a rollercoaster of retail promises that were the result of a third-party re-seller promising to flog the Android tablet on UK shores.
Earlier this month, a third-party website called www.nokiashop.co.uk opened up requests for the Nokia N1 in the UK, but Nokia soon spoke out and revealed the website wasn’t affiliated with the company.
The re-seller soon changed its name to Colourful Tech and confirmed that the Nokia N1 would be available in the UK from August 20.
However, the company today got in touch with TrustedReviews revealing that the tablet won’t go on sale after all.
“After a number of contradicting media reports and press releases there has been some confusion about the launch and sale of the Nokia N1 in the UK,” says a Colourful Tech spokesperson.
The spokesperson adds: “This e-mail confirms that
Colourful Tech didn’t offer a reason why the Nokia N1 sale has been shuttered, but we’re guessing Nokia may have pressured the company to stop its operations.
When the company originally promised to sell the device, Colourful Tech operations manager Philip Jones said: “I am writing to confirm that a new company has been set up in the UK to sell the Nokia N1 and that we have a supply agreement which brings in the tablets through a distribution agreement with the Hong Kong distributor of Foxconn – the manufacturer and owner of the global distribution rights to the Nokia N1.”
Following this, a Nokia spokesperson supplied TrustedReviews with the following statement:
“This company is not authorised to sell products carrying the Nokia brand, nor is it affiliated to or endorsed by Foxconn which manufactures and distributes the N1. To date, the N1 has only been launched in China and Taiwan and only distributors in those territories are being supplied by Foxconn with products set up for those markets. Nokia continues to investigate and will take whatever steps are necessary to protect our brand.”
It looks like Nokia’s “steps” to protect the brand have resulted in Colourful Tech shutting down N1 operations for good.

Nokia announced the N1 – its first Android tablet – last year, although the launch only included China and Taiwan.
The company has made no indication that a UK launch is in the works, so we’ve been left twiddling our thumbs as the slate seemingly slips by humble Blighty.
The N1 is a svelte 6.9mm tablet that’s powered by a 2.3GHz quad-core Intel process, 2GB of RAM, and a 5,300mAh battery.
It also features a 7.9-inch display with a 1,536 x 2,048 pixel resolution, and an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera.
