Is this a piece of Motorola’s next smartphone?

Motorola is reportedly plotting the imminent launch of several new smartphones – is this a key part of one of them?
An image depicting the front panel of an unknown Motorola smartphone has been posted online. It’s said that the component belongs to either the Moto X4 or the Moto G4 Plus. Neither of these handsets have been formally announced by Motorola however, so take this image with due caution.
Technology news hub PhoneArena posted the supposed leak on its website, claiming to have been sent the component by one of the website’s “loyal readers”. The image doesn’t reveal much, other than the fact that it looks like a fingerprint scanner may be embedded into the home button in the final version.

Motorola is expected to unveil both the Moto G, and a larger Moto G Plus, at a dedicated media event on May 17. There’s also a rumour that Motorola will reveal the fourth-generation Moto X in August, although the Lenovo-owned company hasn’t confirmed any such plans.
The Moto G is one of Motorola’s best-selling handsets, due to its low price and quality build. In our review of the third-generation Moto G (2015), it scored 9/10. We praised the phone for its excellent camera, water-resistant body, value for money, and smooth performance.
