Is Santa real? Here’s how to never find out
Santa – the jolly, magical, gift-dispensing sky wizard that you better not badmouth…
A new browser plug-in will help protect the Christmas spirit all year-long.
The extension is called ‘Keep Believing in Santa’ and blocks ‘untruths’ about Father Christmas.
If a web-page has any content suggesting Santa’s existence is anything other than fact, it’s blocked out and replaced with a picture of vigilant-looking Santa.
Hide My Ass says it created the plug-in after learning that millions of children worldwide stopped believing in Father Christmas “because of something they’ve seen on the internet”.
“Whether it was because they saw online adverts for gifts they’ve asked Santa for, because they had searched for Santa online and stumbled across websites revealing his true origins or because of an unfortunate social media post, the internet is becoming a key reason belief in Santa to come crashing down,” writes the company.
“What’s more, the internet could even be driving down the age that children stop believing in Santa, with today’s average age much lower than in their parents’ generation,” it continues.
Hide My Ass even rolled out a definitely-not-an-imposter Santa Claus to convince parents to install the software:
