iPhone X teardown wallpapers basically make the OLED display see-through
Gadget teardown experts iFixit are offering an easy way to ogle an iPhone X’s guts without taking it apart, thanks to wallpapers that show off the handset’s internals.
Designed in a fashion that makes it appear as if the iPhone X’s OLED display is translucent, the wallpapers cover all of the screen, with the exception of the sensor-holding notch, and display accurately mapped images of the silicon, split battery packs, and the Taptic Engine of the iPhone X.
The wallpapers come in two guises, one that shows the phone’s internals when the display is removed, and another that provides an x-ray view of the components underneath the battery pack, which takes up at least a third of the wallpaper.

For anyone who has a nerdy interest in phone hardware and their electronics, but doesn’t want to teardown a £1000 smartphone, the wallpapers are pretty cool, especially as they stretch edge-to-edge to match the iPhone X’s OLED screen.
Similar wallpapers are due for the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, which iFixit says it’s working on. Users of the older iPhone 7 and 7 Plus handsets, iPhone 6 and iPhone 5S, 5C and 5 models can download such translucent wallpapers as well.
For people who want to go a little further with the iPhone X, then the example of YouTuber EverythingApplePro could be followed, as he managed to switch the Space Grey glass back of his iPhone X with a clear glass panel.
However, it’s worth noting that the process isn’t easy and should only be attempted at your own risk.
