The long-awaited introduction of an OLED Retina Display is one of those iPhone rumours we hear every year, but it never pans out.
Well, almost a full calendar year before the company introduces the iPhone 8, reports suggest the advanced display tech could finally replace LCD.
That would mean more vivid images and less drain on the iPhone’s battery. It would also bring Apple in-line with Samsung flagship Galaxy phones.

A Bloomberg report says Apple has encouraged Sharp in its investment of £435m in facilities to create the organic light-emitting diode displays.
“Apple has unofficially or as a nod encouraged Sharp to go into it,” said Amir Anvarzadeh of BGC Partners Inc.
“Apple’s general strategy is to increase the competition on the supply side, and dilute the risk exposure to one company.”
Sharp is now in the hands of Foxconn, the Chinese company that assembles the iPhone for Apple.
This could make a display alliance between Sharp and Apple a little more likely.
