iPhone 6S shown partially assembled

Video and images of an assembled and partially functioning iPhone 6S have leaked onto the internet.

With the launch of Apple’s next flagship smartphone just weeks away, the iPhone 6S rumours and leaks are now flowing at a steady rate.

We’ve just seen one of the biggest yet, courtesy of MacRumours. One of its sources has provide footage and snapshots of what appear to be an almost fully assembled iPhone 6S.

The handset even outputs a signal to its screen when switched on, albeit only to display a gear icon. Still, it shows that nearly all of the iPhone 6S’s main components are in place.

The video also sees the iPhone 6S opened up, and its internal components revealed. Key components such as the rear camera are missing, however.

As the report highlights, the presence of the iPhone 6S’s rumoured Force Touch technology may be hinted at here by the way in which the display’s shielding is glued into place. With the iPhone 6, this was screwed in.

The report also confirms the presence of a Qualcomm’s MDM9635M LTE baseband modem, which will provide faster and more power-efficient 4G performance. It also reveals that this component will operate alongside a Qualcomm WTR3925 radio frequency transceiver chip for superior mobile network performance.

Expect to see the iPhone 6S launched at a special event on September 9, where Apple should also unveil an iPhone 6S Plus and a brand new Apple TV.
