The design of the iPhone 6S may different to the iPhone 6 to a surprising degree.
Every other year, the current main numbered iPhone gets an S-branded follow-up. This handset is almost identical externally – certainly in terms of dimensions.
However, the next iPhone S-model, the iPhone 6S, could be different.
According to noted Apple speculator Ming-Chi Kuo of analyst firm KGI Securities, the next iPhone will have slightly different dimensions to the iPhone 6.
First up, Kuo says that the new phone will be ever so slightly thicker – a reverse of Apple’s trend towards the ever-skinnier. This is because Apple is rumoured to be adding a Force Touch display, which will add an Apple Watch-like pressure-sensitive element to the iPhone 6S screen.
The components necessary for this addition will inevitably make the iPhone 6S thicker to the tune of 0.2mm, says Kuo according to Macotakara. Also, the iPhone 6S will be taller by 0.15mm and also wider than the iPhone 6S.

While the iPhone 6S will be bigger, Kuo also claims that it will be significantly tougher. The use of 7000 series aluminium (again, just like the Apple Watch Sport) should ensure no Bendgate controversy this time around.
Another way in which the iPhone 6S will differ, which isn’t quite so unusual, is in the available colours. The gold model will apparently be more yellow than the iPhone 6 equivalent, while the space grey will be darker. Kuo also reiterates that there will be a new rose gold model this time around.
