iPhone 6 looks set for September 9 reveal
Multiple reports claim that Apple has settled upon a September 9 launch date for its iPhone 6 smartphone(s).
Recode was the first to make this claim, posting a brief report stating that “Apple has scheduled a big media event for Tuesday, Sept. 9,” with little more detail other than that this will be for the iPhone 6.
That’s been confirmed by Bloomberg, which reports separately that this will be the date, and states that Apple will use this event to launch both of its large-screen iPhones. In case you haven’t been paying attention for the past six months or so, that means a 4.7-inch phones and a 5.5-inch ‘phablet.’
Another major American news outlet, The Wall Street Journal, has jumped in with similar claims. As with the other reports, it points out that this release date would follow a recent pattern for Apple of launching its new phone in early to mid-September.
Last year, Apple launched its iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C smartphones on the second Tuesday of September. Of course, the iPhone 5 was launched on a Wednesday the year before, while the iPhone 4S was announced in October 2011, so perhaps calling this a pattern is a bit of a stretch.
Sales of at least the smaller of the two iPhone 6 devices should commence within a couple of weeks of this September 9 launch event, as has been Apple’s way for some years now. Now that IS a pattern.
