iPhone 6 could feature NFC, reports claim

The iPhone 6 feature list could be bestowed with NFC connectivity options, latest reports have suggested.

A feature which has been repeatedly tipped for inclusion on past iPhone offerings, but which has always failed to materialise, Near Field Communication connectivity is reportedly heading to the iPhone 6 in order to enable new mobile payment options.

Citing “a source close to the matter,” Brightwire has reported that the iPhone 6 will not only add NFC technology – a standard on many flagship Android phones – but work with banks to integrate tap-to-pay technology within their compatible Passbook applications.

According to the latest reports, the Cupertino-based giant has already reached an agreement with China UnionPay over introducing an NFC-enabled mobile payment service within its application.

Although Apple has repeatedly overlooked NFC inclusion, recent reports revealed that the iPad Air maker filed an NFC based patent back in January, further hinting that the contactless tech will be present in the upcoming iPhone 6.

The subject of multiple leaks and countless rumours, the iPhone 6 is widely expected to make an appearance later this year, with a September launch having been repeatedly tipped alongside the much mooted Apple iWatch.

Multiple reports have claimed the iPhone 6 will be subject to a size bump, with a 4.7-inch display widely expected to feature alongside a heavily revised, super slim form factor.
