New details on the iPhone 6 battery unit have surfaced online, revealing it may not be much larger than that featured with the iPhone 5S.
The majority of reports suggest the iPhone 6 will launch with two variants, one with a 4.7-inch display and the other offering a larger 5.5-inch screen.
We’ve had little details on how Apple will beef up the battery power of its flagship iPhone to cope with those larger screen sizes though.
However, now a new report has hit the Chinese media suggesting the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 will come with a battery sized somewhere between 1800 and 1900mAh.
The iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C both feature a 1570mAh battery, so jumping up to 1800/1900mAh would be quite an increase, if the screen wasn’t being enhanced in size and resolution too.
Some are therefore wondering whether a 1800/1900mAh battery unit will be enough to power such a device.
As for the 5.5-inch iPhone 6, that’s apparently set to pack a 2,500mAh unit. Although it’s difficult to compare Android phones to iOS in terms of battery life, it’s worth remembering that the 5.5-inch LG G3 comes with a 3,000mAh battery, so 2,500mAh is quite a bit lower.
Although, Apple’s upcoming A8 processor could hold the key to better battery life for the iPhone 6.
Despite the fact the iPhone 6 may come with a 1704 x 960p resolution and a larger display, the size of the battery may not be quite as important as we think.
Previous rumours suggest Apple has focused on bringing huge battery efficiency boosts with the new A8 processor, rather than major speed and performance enhancements.
The processor could therefore be key to extending your iPhone 6’s battery life, despite the better screen and new iOS 8 operating system.
iOS 8 itself will finally offer you a Battery Usage feature too, letting you know which apps are draining your battery, helping you to make more informed decisions about which ones to use and when.
