Apple may reportedly delay the iPhone 5S release date until the end of the year, in order to introduce a 4.3-inch Retina display.
The iPhone 5S is reportedly getting a 4.-3inch Retina display, but this new inclusion will mean the next Apple flagship won’t be making an appearance until the end of 2013.
According to Taiwanese newspaper, the Commercial Times, Apple is delaying the iPhone 5S release date in order to introduce that larger display.
The iPhone 5 has a 4-inch Retina display with an 1136 x 640p resolution and 326ppi image density. However, according to the latest rumours, which go against everything that’s been said so far we might add, the iPhone 5S will beef up that screen to a 4.3-inch offering.
Previously tipped to launch in mid-September, the iPhone 5S is due to get a significant specs boost over the iPhone 5.
It is thought to have a quad-core PowerVR SGX 554MP4 GPU, a higher clocked A6 CPU with 2GB of RAM and improved 4G LTE connectivity.
That 4.3-inch screen may be an IGZO display which could improve the iPhone 5S battery life and could be the same as that tipped to be included in the iPad 5 or iPhone 6.
In the rear, the iPhone 5S is tipped to have an improved 12-megapixel camera with dual LED flash.
Potentially launching with the new iOS 7 mobile operating system pre-installed, the iPhone 5S may well be beaten to market by the plastic budget iPhone 5C.
The budget iPhone is expected by the end of Q3 2013 as a mid-range smartphone with a plastic body and slightly reduced specs to reflect its cheaper price tag.
Tipped to launch in five colours, the budget iPhone is due to make an appearance late September or early October.
