iPhone 5S release date teased as early July

A potential iPhone 5S or iPhone 6 release date has been leaked as June 20, with the claimed summer arrival coming just days after a potential WWDC 2013 unveiling.

According to a leaked internal document from Japanese network KDDI, the service provider will reportedly start taking iPhone 5S pre-orders on June 20 ahead of an early July, a potential iPhone 5S release date that would suggest the iPhone 5 follow-on will be unveiled alongside the long awaited iOS 7 operating system at the manufacturer’s annual developer conference in June.

Although the such iPhone 5S rumours should be taken with a considerable pinch of salt, it has been suggested the leaked laminated product listing is familiar to those used by other networks ahead of handsets’ formal release dates.

Offering a potential insight into the iPhone 5S specs sheet, the leaked document has been tipped to play host to the upcoming software updates alongside a new 13-megapixel rear-mounted camera and the long rumoured fingerprint reader.

iPhone 5S Rumours

With Apple CEO Tim Cook declaring in a recent earnings call that the company had a number of product ‘surprises’ in the works, recent iPhone 5S rumours have suggested the handset will be more of an incremental improvement ahead of a dramatic iPhone 6 overhaul.

According to further reports the handset is being readied for launch in “6-8 colours” similar to the 2012 iPod touch, further iPhone 5S rumours have pointed at a quad-core processor, improved camera optics and iOS 7 the most widely expected introductions. It is believed that the iPhone 5S will boast a form factor identical to that of its predecessor.

With Apple’s WWDC conference to be held between June 10 and 14, it has been claimed that the iPhone 5S will be the first Apple handset to feature a fingerprint reader, with the Cupertino-based company recently advertising for an expert in the area.
