iPhone 5 Pre-Orders Set For September 12 Launch – UK Release October 5?

Fresh reports are claiming that Apple will make the iPhone 5 available for pre-order on September 12 – the very day it’s set to launch.

This would be the first time for such a swift turn around. The iPhone 4S couldn’t be pre-ordered until three days after it was revealed.

According to iMore’s sources, however, Apple may only take this unprecedented step in the US, with a launch set to take place in Apple’s home country nine days later on September 21.

The report also claims that the second stage of the iPhone 5 rollout – which would incorporate the handset’s global (and thus UK) launch – may commence from October 5.

Yesterday we witnessed alleged snaps of the iPhone 5’s motherboard, which hinted at the presence of a new micro-SIM slot and a larger battery. It’s also been strongly suggested that the new phone will utilise a new, smaller charging connector.

Add in those convincing pictures of the iPhone 5’s outer shell – complete with their suggestion of a longer screen and metallic rear – and we have as much of an idea of what the iPhone 5 will look like as when it will ship.

We could know for sure within the next month. Stay tuned for more information as we get it.
