iPhone 5 features add NFC according to leaked pictures

Ahead of next month’s expected Apple iPhone 5 release date, newly leaked pictures have hit the web suggesting Apple’s eagerly awaited next-generation smartphone will feature NFC compatibility.

Suggesting the iPhone 5 will land with the much rumoured NFC capabilities in tow, the latest leaked iPhone 5 pictures, which hit the web via a photobucket account attributed to the user name ‘meme_168’, show what is claimed to be a selection of Apple iPhone 5 innards with an NFC chip attached.

Offering a look at the reverse of the iPhone’s front panel and display, the images show what appears to be a Near-Field Communications chip positioned on the device’s top section, a possible cause for the unit’s previously leaked relocation of the forward-facing camera and a cause of the handset’s 3.5mm headphone jack’s repositioning to the device’s base panel.

A long rumoured feature of the widely speculated iPhone 5, Apple’s move into NFC enabled portable devices has long been on the cards, with a selection of upcoming iOS 6 features and abilities set to benefit from the contactless payment and data transfer technology.

With a selection of Android, Bada and Windows Phone powered smartphones already playing host to NFC technologies, Apple’s iOS 6 packing iPhone would mark a logic first step for the Cupertino based company into near-field territories, with the WWDC unveiled OS featuring the new Passbook app, a service that allows users to become paperless, storing digital tickets, boarding passes, receipts and other data.

Although Apple has yet to confirm any plans for NFC compatibility, any move into the contactless systems could see the Passbook app expand to accommodate mobile payments, doing away with the need to carry cash or bank cards.

The most eagerly awaited handset launch in history, the Apple iPhone 5 has been the thing of much rumour and speculation for a number of months, with the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S3 rival said to be heading for launch with everything from a new 4-inch display to the same A5X dual-core processor found within the iPad 3.

With the tech world waiting on Apple’s sixth addition to the smartphone market, latest iPhone 5 rumours have suggested the currently mythical handset will land sporting an all new, slimmer design with the company’s classic 30-pin dock connector making way for a new, streamlined 9-pin standard.

Elsewhere, with an expected September 21st iPhone 5 release date seemingly set to follow a September 12th unveiling, leaked iPhone 5 features have seen the handset tipped to tout improved camera optics and a metal-backed finish.
