Following its unveiling a couple of weeks ago, the iPhone 4S
is finally available to buy, but for those who didn’t pre-order or begin
queueing earlier this week, you may be out of luck.
The iPhone 4S is Apple’s latest offering in the smartphone
wars and sees an evolution of its iPhone 4 with all the changes taking place
internally including an upgraded processor, camera and battery.
It will also run iOS 5 which was launched earlier this week
for certain iPhone, iPad and iPod touch models.
Queues began gathering outside the Apple store on Regent’s Street
in London last
Friday, a full week before the new handset launched – and thosde queueing have even been
putting up some videos of their experiences (see below).
Even Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak is queueing to get his hands on an iPhone 4S, outsdie an Apple Store in Los Gatos, California. Woz tweeted that there was another guy there but unfortunately for him, he decided to queue on the wrong side of the door.
Since the phone was unveiled by Tim Cook a couple of weeks
ago, we’ve seen that Siri, its intelligent voice recognition software, has been
programmed to give some very interesting answers to your questions – which shows that Apple coders definitely do have a sense of humour.
Large queues of between 1,000 and 1,500 formed outside the Covent Garden Apple store ahead of the launch at 8am
this morning. However with such large queues and huge pre-order numbers,
the iPhone 4S could very soon become a rare commodity – for a few weeks at
